Hospice Volunteers Needed North Woods Home Care and Hospice is seeking Hospice Volunteers in the Manistique, Escanaba, Iron Mountain and Munising areas. Hospice volunteers play a vital role in providing compassionate care and support to patients and their families during the end-of-life journey.

Their contributions include:

Emotional Support: Volunteers offer companionship, listen to patients' stories, and provide a comforting presence. This helps reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation.

Respite Care: By spending time with patients, volunteers give primary caregivers a much-needed break, allowing them to rest and attend to other responsibilities.

Practical Assistance: Volunteers may help with daily tasks such as running errands, preparing meals, or light housekeeping, easing the burden on families.

Advocacy and Liaison: They can assist in communicating patients' needs and preferences to the medical team, ensuring that the care provided aligns with the patients' wishes.

Bereavement Support: After a patient's passing, volunteers often continue to support families through grief, offering a listening ear and helping them navigate the bereavement process. Overall, hospice volunteers enhance the quality of life for patients and provide essential support to families, embodying the principles of empathy and human connection.
